A body of another Fort Hood soldier was found near Texas-Army base, US Army officials announced on Tuesday.
This is the third time in just a month that a body related to the base has been found.
According to officials, the body of Pvt. Mejhor Morta, 26, was found in the vicinity of Stillhouse Hollow Lake, a reservoir located in Bell County and managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Fort Worth District.
This comes after the search for Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, whose remains where discovered on June 30. Her body was found only days after 24-year-old Pvt. Gregory Wedel-Morales’s body was discovered on June 19.
“Our soldiers are not safe living on this dangerous base,” said the lawyer for Guillen’s family.
Guillen’s attorney, Natalie Khawam, said after hearing about Pvt.
Morta’s death, “As we all know, our soldiers are not safe at Fort Hood.
Unfortunately, this U. S. soldier’s death is consistent with our concerns, that these soldiers are living on a dangerous base and are being threatened if they speak up.Enough is enough.
”“We the people demand a congressional investigation. How many more soldiers need to die before Congress agrees to convene a congressional investigation?” Khawam said, The Statesman reported.
A spokesperson for the Bell County Sheriff’s Department said they are waiting for preliminary results from an autopsy.
Commander of 1st Brigade 5th Cavalry Regiment Lt. Col. Neil Armstrong said: “The Black Knight family is truly heartbroken by the tragic loss of Private Mejhor Morta. I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.”
Morta’s decorations and awards include National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
