A woman has shared why she refuses to babysit her sister’s son after he lied about how she had treated him.
She took to Reddit and explained that her sister works a lot but can’t afford a babysitter for her 7-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter, so she volunteered to watch over the two.
But while she was babysitting them, her nephew became furious when she stopped him from jumping on the sofa.
When his mother returned home, the young boy “starts suddenly bawling his eyes out and running towards her” even though he was perfectly fine.
“He immediately starts on a rant about how I had a man in the house, and how neither him or his sister had eaten at all that day.
“My sister was rightfully p***ed, and started asking questions. I shook my head, said he was lying, and that she had cameras so we should probably sit down and watch them. She said no, and that I needed to go before she called the police.”
Hours after she left the house, she received a call from her sister who apologized and said she had watched the security footage and found no man had visited. She also saw how her son refused to eat the dinner she had prepared.
“Our mother thinks I’m being ridiculous for being mad at a kid, but it’s more than that. I could’ve gotten in trouble if the police had shown up and he was saying what he said,” she added.
Internet users defended her decision to refuse to look after the boy again, with one writing: “Most seven year olds wouldn’t lie to that severity. His mother is allowing him to manipulate her and even threatened you with the police. She has already shown she will take his word over yours, so there is no reason you should watch him again.”
Another commented: “You told her to check the cameras. She refused and threatened you with the police. She doesn’t get to back track now and pretend everything is fine.”
