South Korea: 100+ Recovered Coronavirus Patients Test Positive Again As The Virus May Have Reactivated


Reports of people who recovered from the coronavirus disease contracting it again have been doing the rounds.

It was recently confirmed by South Korea that a minimum of 116 South Koreans who initially beat the disease had tested positive for it again.

This comes after the officers were planning to ease strict recommendations for preventing new outbreaks.

The total number of cases of coronavirus patients have crossed the 2 million mark on Monday.

The nation reported just 25 new cases but the increase in reactivated patients has caused worries in the country as South Korea is looking forward to stamp out infections.

The officials are investigating the reason behind the apparent relapses. However, the director of KCDC, Jeong Eun-Kyong said that the virus could have reactivated instead of those patients being re-infected.

According to other experts, this might have happened due to faulty tests or presence of the virus in the systems of those patients but in moderation and in much less quantity or intensity that it did not affect the host or other people around the host.

These 116 cases in South Korea is double than 51 cases that were reported in the last week.

The nation is now planning to send 600,000 testing kits to the U.S.A. on in the first of its kind shipment after U.S. President requested for it.

The government leaders in South Korea have asked people to follow restrictions and guidelines on social gatherings. However, it was hinted that these measures could be eased soon.

South Korea urged its residents to keep following the social distancing guidelines until 19th April but because of a drop in the number of cases improvement in the weather, an increasing number of individuals were seen flouting the guidelines.
