A 30-year-old rapper was shot as he drove in downtown Atlanta in what police officers believe was a targeted attack.
Lil Marlo has passed away at the age of 30 after he was shot while driving down Interstate 285 over the weekend.
Cops responded to a call of a car accident and found the 30-year-old shot. Sadly, the rapper was pronounced dead at the scene, TMZ reported.
“At this time, investigators believe the victim was the intended target of the gunfire and they are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” police said.
It was confirmed by the Medical Examiner that they have the body of Rudolph Johnson, the rapper’s government name.
Atlanta Police Department said: “Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and found the 30-year-old driver deceased inside the vehicle. The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling on I-285 in the Southbound lanes when the driver was shot.”
A video showing the site where the shooting happened was shared online showing Lil Marlo’s car with the driver’s side door open and investigators and police officers nearby.
The person filming the scene says: “God damn! They shot shot up one of these motherf******.”
Rapper Clay James took to Twitter and wrote: “Waking up seeing Lil Marlo passed away made me appreciate waking up even more.
“It’s a sad day in Atlanta. Prayers up to his family, friends, and QC. Black lives won’t matter to anyone else if they don’t start mattering to US first.”
Lil Yachty also paid tribute to Lil Marlo, saying: “WE just did a song 4 this morning smh rip brother.”
Rapper Russ also wrote: “RIP Marlo smh 2 the hard way was our s*** on tour.”
