Reverend Helped Cover Up The Picture Of Jesus After Allowing Celebration Of Ramadan In His Church


The Reverend Lissa Scott from St Matthew and St Luke’s church in Darlington allowed Muslims to celebrate their Ramadan in the church.

As the need of the event, she also agreed to cover all the crosses and the painting of Jesus during the celebration.

The artist William Holman Hunt has painted the holy picture of Jesus.

As Muslim men and women pray separately, so that’s why the men were invited to pray in the aisle of the church, and the women were praying in the adjoining rooms.

The plan was discussed by former Darlington mayor of Gerald Lee, Rev Scott and different Muslim representatives on 9th May.

There is a group called Celebrating communities, which is trying to boost racial harmony in a particular area by celebrating various cultural events together.

All the Christian crosses and photographs were covered in the areas where men and women were praying. The Muslim men occupied the aisle in the church, and the women were praying the small rooms given to them.

The Reverend and Mayor said that if Muslims want to come in our church and pray then we respectfully invite them in and in the same way if they ever invite us in the mosque then we will respect that too.

Recently, The Diocese of Durham interfered in the whole matter and said that according to the church law non-Christians are not allowed in the church of England building.

Even after this, the Muslims are still joining the Christians and other religions for the meal of Iftar on 2nd June. Mr. Lee made it very clear that he is not trying to hurt or convert anyone as he is just trying to bring communities together.
