The FBI raided the home of a Proud Boys member who planned an attack on the US Capitol and threatened to kill a senator.
40-year-old Eduard Florea was arrested on Tuesday after authorities swarmed his NYC home in Middle Village, Queens, for inciting violence on social media.
According to the reports, Florea didn’t travel to Capitol Hill to attend the riot despite vowing to descend on the U.S. seat of the legislative branch together with “armed patriots.”
As federal investigators revealed, the suspect made threatening statements concerning the use of firearms and the safety of other people on his Parler account.
“Dead men can’t pass s**t laws. I will fight so help me god,” Florea reportedly wrote in response to a post about newly-elected Senator Raphael Gamaliel Warnock as he appeared to threaten the lawmaker.
The 40-year-old also vowed to descend on the Capitol with “cars full of armed patriots” and attack those who would oppose him.
“The time for peace and civility is over. [Three] cars full of armed patriots are enroute from NY / 3 cars of armed patriots heading into DC from NY / Guns cleaned loaded . . . got a bunch of guys all armed and ready to deploy . . . we are just waiting for the word,” Florea reportedly wrote on Parler.
In another post, he added: “I catch one of you f***ers in DC tomorrow…. definitely slicing a throat….I f***ing promise you…”
Following the raid on his home, Florea was arrested and charged with felony weapons charges. According to the prosecutors, the authorities seized 75 knives, two swords, two hatchets, and some one thousand hollow-point bullets.
According to the reports, Florea has been detained pending trial.
