A Coastal Queensland Town Has Over 60 Job Openings With Affordable Waterfront Homes


A coastal Queensland city has over 60 job openings and offering six-figure salaries.

They also offer affordable waterfront homes that have been called the country’s ‘hidden gem’.

There are job opportunities available and growing job openings in the Bundaberg, in the state’s Wide Bay region. They have struggled with high unemployment rates in the past.

There are dozens of positions available across various industries, including manufacturing, accounting, healthcare, management, and technology, paying upwards of $100,000, the Courier-Mail reported.

Among the lucrative positions are management and corporate jobs at food supplier Macadamias Australia.

The company is also planning to develop a new space for processing and tourism – due to open next year. It will also bring an additional 95 jobs. 

‘We have a lot of innovation in the industry in Bundaberg’, Co-director Janelle Gerry, told the publication.

‘We have a lot of entrepreneurship and are always on the cutting edge of technology, and we are looking to employ specialist staffing to assist with the growth’.

Ms. Gerry said the opportunities will give future employees the chance to work in a diverse economy and to live in a ‘wonderful’ area with work-life balance.

Bundaberg is also home to a number of other growing businesses including, Austchilli, Bundaberg Sugar, and its most popular attraction, the Bundaberg Rum distillery.

The quaint city is in close proximity to natural beaches and the Great Barrier Reef and appears to have a lower cost of living, with homes under $300,000.

According to listings on RealEstate.com.au, four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the city’s west could go for $269,000.

‘Bundaberg is a bit of a hidden gem’, Yale Morgan, the Chamber of Commerce president told Courier-Mail, he also said that he feels positive over the economic growth.
