Queen Elizabeth II has thanked the health workers and midwives for their contributions towards the battle against the coronavirus pandemic in an open letter.
As the Queen of the United Kingdom has expressed in her message, health workers’ “dedication to service” during these tough times “is an example to us all.”
Besides praising workers in the healthcare sector for their commitment, the Queen has recently also sent a warm message to the family of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is currently recovering from coronavirus, in which she voiced her support and wished the PM a “full and speedy recovery.”
Released by the Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth’s open letter to health workers read:
“On the occasion of World Health Day, I want to thank all those working in the healthcare profession for your selfless commitment and diligence as you undertake vitally important roles to protect and improve the health and wellbeing of people across the Commonwealth, and around the world.
“In testing times, we often observe that the best of the human spirit comes to the fore; the dedication to service of countless nurses, midwives and other health workers, in these most challenging of circumstances, is an example to us all.
“My family and I send our enduring appreciation and good wishes.”
The Queen’s ‘thank you’ message followed just days after she made a special appearance on TV to comfort the nation in times of struggle.
“I am sure the nation will join me in assuring you that what you do is appreciated and every hour of your hard work brings us closer to a return to more normal times,” her majesty said as she addressed frontliners.
She also went on to recall the self-isolation that came along with the second World War and reassured people that “we will be with our families again.”
“We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again. But for now, I send my thanks and warmest good wishes to you all,” the Queen concluded.
