Prince William insisted that the royals were “very much not a racist family” as he confirmed the depth of the rift between him and the Duke of Sussex.

The Duke admitted that he hadn’t even spoken to his brother Harry about the interview but his reaction shows that he was hurt over the allegations made by the couple.

Royal staff praised William and said that the father of three did “very well given the emotion and enormity of it all.”

They also claimed that even though Harry and William haven’t spoken in months, the Duke of Cambridge is prepared to stand “shoulder to shoulder” with his younger brother at the unveiling of their late mother Princess Diana’s statue on July 1 at Kensington Palace.

“Tensions are undoubtedly running high but they both realise it is important to put any differences aside for the ceremony at least,” the source reportedly said.

“There is definitely a feeling that both camps are prepared to come together and put on a united front for such a special occasion,” the source added.

William turned and said firmly: “We’re very much not a racist family.”

This comes after Buckingham Palace issued a statement on behalf of the Queen saying the family was left saddened after learning the “full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.”

It also said that the issues they raised were “very concerning” but the Queen and other senior royals were keen to stand their ground.

“While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately,” it added.
