One of the greatest changes that the novel coronavirus has brought upon everyone around the globe is the new and increased usage of personal protective equipments (PPE) – especially the facial masks.
In a recent announcement, Qatar Airways says that all passengers on their plane from now on will have to have to have both a face mask and a face shield on if they want to board their flights.
They added that all the necessary PPEs will be provided to the passengers once they board the plane, meaning that the only obligation for the passenger is to make sure that he or she wears the PPEs throughout the entire flight.
The only passengers who will be exempt from this new rule will be infants under the age of two. The airline company said that they will prepare the face shields in two sizes so that both adults and children can wear PPEs that can appropriately cover their faces during flight.
However, the decision may cause some controversy as Qatar Airways said that the face shields are only required for those seating Economy, while those seated in Business class and above may act on their own discretion.
While this may be because of the seating distances, some have already began to criticize the decision as a business move, saying that it was an indirect way of incentivizing people to buy more expensive seats. The airline has denied such arguments.
Qatar Airways have acted quickly to the supposed new normal that is coming after the age of Covid-19, as they were one of the first companies to announce a whole new uniform for their cabin crew. As pictured above, all crews aboard the plane will be fully equipped to ensure safety.
An executive for Qatar Airways said that the new decision was to make sure that all passengers aboard their planes can feel safe as they make their necessary trips.
He emphasized how his airline has one that has consistently maintained its flight schedule even among the difficulties if faced because of the global pandemic, adding that it has accumulated great experience and knowledge by continuing their flights.
