A puppy from Bakersfield, California miraculously survived after being shot in the head multiple times by several teenagers.
According to the Pet Matchmaker Rescue CA Facebook page, on May 16, a woman heard gunshots outside her house and saw a puppy crying in pain under her car while several teenagers running away.
The woman named Alejandra Guardado found out that the little pup had been shot in the head multiple times by teenagers.
“There was a lot of blood. I was freaked out and didn’t know what to do at first. I was in shock about the whole thing”, she told The Bakersfield Californian.
She called a friend who volunteered with Pet Matchmaker Rescue who took the pup named Oakley, to Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital.
The puppy had been shot in the face and head multiple times that left her blind.
Morgan Sokolow Gall, the Pet Matchmaker Rescue director, said: “The fact that any teenager could do this to a puppy astounds me. This wasn’t self-defense. It was pure evil.”
“It was a malicious act that these teenagers were doing.”
But miraculously, the puppy survived. It left everyone shocked as the pup had been shot multiple times.
“It’s just mind-boggling that this dog is in the condition she is in today,” Gall said.
“I’ve been doing rescues for 13 years, and I’ve never seen a dog come back from such a horrible situation and be this normal. She’s not traumatized from it.”
Oakley is currently living with a foster family and awaiting surgery.
After surgery, we hope she finds her home soon.
