A Proud Boys member who led hordes of rioters inside the Capitol during the insurrection has been arrested and is facing multiple charges.
43-year-old Dominic Pezzola, also known as Spaz, is a Proud Boys member and a Marine veteran who was seen lighting up a cigar inside the Capitol after the rioters broke through the security ranks.
Before he got inside the building, Spaz was also seen breaking the Capitol building’s window and leading dozens of rioters inside.
Following the 43-year-old’s arrest, Pezzola has been charged with breaking the window and unlawfully entering the Capitol, ABC News reported.
“[Pezzola] was charged by criminal complaint with one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1512(c)(2); one count of destruction of government property, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1361; and one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section1752(a),” the US Attorney’s Office confirmed.
In one of the videos taken on January 6, Pezzola is seen smashing a Capitol building window before leading the rioters in.
“Victory smoke in the Capitol, boys. This is f***ing awesome. I knew we could take this motherf***er over [if we] just tried hard enough,” the Proud Boys member allegedly said.
As witnesses also told the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Marine veteran insisted that he would kill Vice President Mike Pence “if given the chance.”
According to the Democrat & Chronicle, Pezzola now faces over 20 years in prison if he is found guilty of the aforementioned charges.
