Keith Flint has taken his own life after the Prodigy star got separated from his Japanese DJ wife.

A final picture of the star surfaced after his death in which he is seen competing in a 5K race just 48 hours before committing suicide.

Keith, 49, was found dead at his home near Dunmow, Essex, on Monday morning at around 8am. It was later revealed by his bandmates that the musician had ended his own life.

Three years ago, the Prodigy frontrunner said in an interview that he ‘wasn’t saving up for anything’ and ‘when I’m done, I’ll kill myself.’

In his final photo, the rockstar can be seen running the Chelmsford park run on Saturday morning in an amazing time of 21 minutes 22 seconds.

Journalist Rob Hadgraft, who was running alongside Keith, later shared the picture on social media and wrote: ‘Sad news about Keith Flint – comes only two days after he’d looked in great shape and spirits, storming round the Chelmsford Parkrun in a PB.’

It was claimed last night that the music star entered into severe depression after he split from Mayumi Kai, his Japanese wife. The separation also forced Keith to put his Essex farmhouse up for sale.

According to The Sun, the separation from his wife may also have prompted the megastar to start taking drugs again.

Keith has previously struggled with suicidal notions and has publicly admitted it several times. In 2015, he told FHM magazine in an interview that he ‘wasn’t saving up for anything.’

‘I’ve always had this thing inside me that, when I’m done, I’ll kill myself,’ he added.

‘I swear to God that’s not suicidal – it’s definitely a positive thing. The moment I start sh***ing the bed is when you’ll see me on the front of a bus.’

Keith also said: ‘I’m not frightened of who I am; I just want to look back and know that I’ve lived what I consider a fulfilled life. That’s all. Happy days.’

Police, who were called after the musician was found unconscious, haven’t yet revealed the cause of his death.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: ‘We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday.

‘We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’

The news of his death was confirmed by his bandmate Liam Howlett.

Taking to the band’s Instagram page, Howlett wrote: ‘The news is true, I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend.

‘I’m shell shocked, f***** angry, confused and heart broken….. r.i.p brother.’

Keith died in his £1.5 million rural home in Essex. His neighbors, who are still shocked at his sudden departure, said they often saw him running, cycling, or riding his horse in the village.

Neighbor Jane Addison, who regularly walks her dogs near Keith’s home, remembered him as a ‘friendly’ animal-lover.

Addison said: ‘I don’t know how many dogs he had, maybe eight-ish dogs, and he’d go round the fields on his quad, and when he wanted them to come back to him he’d shout ‘eggs and bacon’… He had lots of birds, canaries… in an aviary.’

Rye, 70, who lives nearby, said of Keith: ‘He was going at quite a pace and he looked really well.

‘He was about to go on tour in America and I know in the past when he was about to go on tours – because they are so physically demanding – he would start a fitness regime to get ready for them. He always seemed really cheerful.’

Another neighbor said of him: ‘He always put his hand up, always said hello, was always very pleasant. He was lovely, I met him a couple of times at drink dos, he was always very friendly and polite.

‘He was always very well spoken to members of the community. He liked to ride and loved his dogs, the image you might think of him with rings in his nose was wrong, he was really nice.’
