An experienced nurse in Florida working at the Jackson Memorial Hospital violated a patient’s privacy and posted pictures of a newborn baby on her social media, mocking the little one for his congenital disabilities.
According to a source, Sierra Samuels, working in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, did this objectionable act last month. A child was born with a disease referred to as ‘Gastroschisis,’ in which the intestines of the patients could be seen outside the body near the belly button.
The nurse posted the picture of this baby on a social media site, clearly mocking his medical condition and suggesting that his intestines are supposed to stay inside his body instead of coming outside this way.
This caption was not appreciated on social media and was considered a violation of patient privacy, health insurance portability, and accountability.
It’s been a month she has posted these pictures, and after a lot of investigation, the nurse was fired from her job on the previous Thursday.
She has been a part of the staff at Jackson Health System for a long time now.
Despite her education and experience, she did this offensive she wasn’t supposed to do as a worker in the hospital. According to her Instagram profile, she has more than 500 followers and is a mother interested in book reading. The mother of the newborn child has been informed, and the hospital administration made apologies. According to the administration, the privacy of a patient is their top priority, and no staff member is allowed to violate the rules and regulations of the hospital in any case.
