If you didn’t recognize her face, you would not be able to tell that a royal was in scrubs helping out the doctors. That royal would be Princess Sofia of Sweden, married to Prince Carl Phillip.

After finishing an intensive 3-day course offered at Sophiahemmet University College in Stockholm, the Princess is now cleared to help doctors and nurses. She had been an honorary chair member for the facility before the pandemic had broken out.

The university has begun to provide short courses as the workload for healthcare workers intensified. They assist with doctors and nurses with simpler tasks, allowing them to focus more on the patients.

Princess Sofia is heading to the hospitals as the coronavirus refuses to subside in the Scandinavian country. Yesterday, a record number of 170 deaths were reported. The number is interpreted as a result of increased movement and contact over the Easter weekend.

Sweden is one of the very few countries where the government has refused to issue a lockdown. Yesterday’s 170 deaths have increased the overall death toll in the nation to 1,203 deaths caused by covid-19.

In a controversial decision, the Swedish government said that it expects individuals to make the sound choice without the government having to involve in their everyday lives.

So far, this laissez-faire approach has not proven to be successful as Sweden reports a total of 11,927 confirmed cases of the disease. With a total population just above 10 million, experts are reaching a consensus that the Swedish approach has backfired.
