Claims that it was Prince Charles who asked the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about their son Archie’s skin color have been branded ‘fiction’ by Buckingham Palace.

The book ‘Brothers and Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan’ by Christopher Anderson claims that the Prince of Wales, 73, asked what his grandchild’s skin color might be during a conversation with his wife Camilla.

According to the book, the conversation occurred on the day Meghan and Harry’s engagement was announced on November 27, 2017.

A source told the royal author that Prince Charles told Camilla: “I wonder what the children will look like.”

The Duchess of Cornwall is said to have been ‘somewhat taken aback’ and said: “Well, absolutely gorgeous. I’m certain.”

The source claims that the Prince of Wales lowered his voice and questioned: “I mean, what do you think the children’s complexion might be?”

Anderson said that Charles asked the question in an innocent way.

“The question posed by Charles was being echoed in a less innocent way throughout the halls of Buckingham Palace,” he writes.

The book also claims that the Prince of Wales told his son he was being “overly sensitive about the matter.”

Speaking to The New York Post, a spokesperson for the prince said: “This is fiction and not worth further comment.”

The claims add fuel to the fire around the exclusive interview the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did with Oprah Winfrey, where the couple alleged that a ‘senior royal’ had questioned their son’s skin color.

Meghan and Harry told Oprah that there had been conversations with a ‘family member’ about what their son’s complexion would be and ‘what that would mean or look like.’
