Prince Azim died at the age of 38 after prolonged hospital treatment for an illness.
The Sultan of Brunei’s sixth child and fourth in line to the throne, Azim passed away in the capital of Bandar Seri Begawan on Saturday morning.
Some reports suggest that he had been suffering from cancer but the country’s government did not disclose the cause of Azim’s death.
Azim, a member of the international jet-set, was often seen rubbing shoulders with celebrities at parties in the US and Europe.
According to Media, Entertainment and Arts Worldwide, his net worth was $5billion when he passed away.
Joan Collins, Michael Jackson, and Pamela Anderson were all pictured next to the prince. Other superstars included Scarlett Johansson and Mischa Barton.
The Prince also formed a great friendship with the late TV star Jade Goody, who described him as a ‘brilliant mate.’ The two were seen enjoying a party together in 2007.
Jade said at that time: “He wanted to meet me, we met and got on like a house on fire.”
The Prince also hosted lavish parties attended by transgender rights advocates, including skier Gus Kenworthy, Mariah Carey, and Caitlyn Jenner.
His funeral took place on the same day he died, and the country has now entered a 7-day period of mourning.
The leaders of neighboring countries also expressed their condolences.
The Indonesian Embassy said in a statement that Prince Azim “will always be remembered fondly.”
Singapore’s Prime Minister also said that the Prince “was known for his kind and generous spirit, and for his dedication to charitable, educational, and youth causes.”
