A priest has gone viral after using his plastic toy gun to squirt holy water at churchgoers who attended his socially-distanced service in their vehicles.
The amusing service happened during the 2020 Holy Week in Detroit where Father Tim Pelc of the St. Ambrose Parish held a drive-through service.
To make sure that the parishioners got a good dose of holy water without the risks of being exposed to potential germs, Father Pelc used his squirt gun to splash holy water at worshippers.

Soon enough, the photos went viral whereas people have been making memes out of the Detroit priest and making him the star of movies such as The Exorcist and Zombieland using photo editing software.
As Father Pelc revealed in an interview with Buzzfeed News, he came upon the original idea after realizing that Easter would be unlike what people are used to.
“The original idea was to do something for the kids of the parish. They were about ready to have an Easter unlike any of their past, so I thought, what can we still do that would observe all the protocols of social distancing?” the priest told Buzzfeed News.
Allegedly, Father Pelc also consulted a doctor to confirm that his unconventional method was safe for everyone.
“He said, ‘Not only is this safe, this is fun.’ He provided me with all the personal protection stuff that I needed,” the priest added.
“The sun was out, we had a nice turnout. It was a way of continuing an ancient custom, and people seemed to enjoy it.”
