Premier League Set To Start On June Without Spectators


Premier League will start in England in most probability by June 1, but there won’t be the usual swearing, cheering Brit spectators whom we all miss out watching as part of the show.

In the governmental road map that came out on Monday afternoon from 10 Downing Street, there were several measures and deadlines to be filled with on various aspects and industrial reopening. Out of the numerous ‘steps’ that they have envisioned, playing soccer comes into the category of step 2, ” permitting cultural and sporting events to take place behind-closed-doors for broadcast, while avoiding the risk of large-scale social contact.” This guideline is on  ‘Our Plan to Rebuild: The UK Government’s Covid-19 Recovery Strategy’ which explicitly made sure to the point that ‘organisations should plan accordingly’.

The plan allows for the football teams to put up to a vote for the reopening of the sport, and if the Project Restart reaches the get-go from 14 out 20 clubs in the Premier League, the matches will commence regardless of cities and counties.point 311 |

However, there is less assurance about the spectators joining in the fun as well, while cinemas and hairdressers have been given the green light to go.point 126 | The document says  ‘Some venues which are, by design, crowded and where it may prove difficult to enact distancing may still not be able to reopen safely at this point, or may be able to open safely only in part.point 306 |

‘Nevertheless the Government will wish to open as many businesses and public places as the data and information at the time allows.point 228 |

In order to facilitate the fastest possible reopening of these types of higher-risk businesses and public places, the Government will carefully phase and pilot reopenings to test their ability to adopt the new COVID-19 Secure guidelines.point 202 |

Page 21 of the same document clearly states that stadia ‘may only be fully possible significantly later depending on the reduction in numbers of infections’.
