While the miracle girl’s parents, Shane Rumbles and Tayla Menear, were told to prepare for the worst due to the girl’s condition, the little survivor kept on beating the odds until her parents were finally allowed to bring her home.

As Menear allegedly explained, the workers the hospital where her baby was staying told her they previously only saw one baby survive after being born so early.

“I have since come across other cases and now want people to know if they go into labor at 22 weeks not to feel hopeless. There is always a chance,” the 26-year-old said.

Speaking of the time she didn’t know whether her daughter would pull through or not, Menear said Lilly was placed in neonatal care after being born weighing just over one pound.

After spending weeks in a tiny tube under the constant watch of a senior team, the girl was moved to NICU where she had been attached to a ventilator for seven more weeks.

Throughout the process of stabilization, Lilly developed three infections as well as a brain bleed and an obstruction of the gut.

“We took each day as it came. Each improvement was a sign that she was becoming more comfortable and settled. She reacts to my voice and will open her eyes when I come in and talk to her. She gives me big beautiful smiles,” the mum added.

“For the first few months of Lilly’s life no one knew if we would ever reach the point of going home as a family,” she admitted.

“It was complete disbelief.”
