A famous TikTok user has been described as ‘despicable’ by the New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority after he was filmed pouring a tub of milk and cereal all over a New York subway train car.
23-year-old Josh Popkin, also known as fckjoshy, is now being investigated by police over the incident.
The TikTok star usually films himself pulling pranks before sharing them on social media, where he has over 3 million followers.
But his recent video showed him pouring a container of milk and cereal in front of essential workers who were forced to jump out of their seats.
The TikTok star was slammed by people for his cruel act, including the New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority, who took to Twitter and wrote: “Pulling a prank on essential workers in the middle of a global pandemic. And making essential workers clean up your mess. Despicable.”
Popkin has issued an apology as officers investigate the incident.
“I’m sorry and deserve to be publicly humiliated forever,” he shared on Instagram before pledging to donate to the Covid-19 Solidary Response Fund.
He also wrote: “In such a dark time in the world I was trying to do something funny to give people a laugh but I was way off. Not only was my stunt not funny, it was disrespectful & completely inappropriate.”
He also shared another video on his YouTube channel and said: “I would like to apologize to the MTA, the essential workers, everyone that I’ve affected — trust me, I am experiencing the consequences of all of my actions right now.
“I’m not funny. Usually, I try to be funny and I’m not funny. I honestly thought it was gonna be something that would make people laugh and bring joy in this serious time.”
But people online continue to blast him for the ‘despicable’ prank and question the sincerity of his apology.
One wrote: “We’re in a pandemic, you’re in NYC- one of the hardest hit places in the country. If have so much time and energy you should go volunteer or figure out a way to help those in need.”
Another said: “Essential Workers are already working hard everyday. People should be helping essential workers during this pandemic not making their lives harder. Also this apology is so insincere, this guy is honestly seeking attention for being a dumba**.”
