The Italian Luxury Fashion House ‘Prada’ Announced It Is To Go Fur-Free


The Italian fashion house Prada has announced that it will not use fur from 2020, and it is a big victory for the rights of animals.

Top fashion house Prada has announced that it will end use of fur! It joins Coach, Jean Paul Gaultier, Giorgio Armani, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood, Michael Kors, Donna Karan, and many other animal welfare group PETA has pressured towards a ban. Prada’s 2020 collection and products will no longer feature fur.

The Chief Executive of Luxury fashion house Prada, Miuccia Prada, has announced that the company is banning the use of all kind fur in future fashion designs and accessories. The major fashion house joins other designers who stopped using fur after pressurized by animal rights advocates to ban fur from their products.

After this big victory, animal rights groups will focus their attention on many fashion companies, to ban exotic skins, such as alligator and snakeskin items, from future products.

Earlier, Prada has found the alternatives of fur in the past, they used the materials from teddy bear manufacturer Steiff. But, environmentalists say that this is not good for the environment as fur alternatives utilize microplastics which do not biodegrade and has bad impact on waterways and marine ecosystems.

PETA says we got this victory after a decade. PETA and their international affiliates sent the company detailed information about the fur industry’s unethical practices.

In 2018, actor and animal rights advocate Pamela Anderson sent a letter on PETA’s behalf requested Miuccia Prada to ban fur from all the future collections.
