Pope Francis Continues To Cancel Official Engagements After Falling Ill


For the third day in a row, Pope Francis has canceled his official engagements after being caught on camera exhibiting cold symptoms shortly after expressing his support for coronavirus sufferers in front of fellow worshippers.

While the 83-year-old leader of the Catholic church has never canceled this many events during his seven years of the papacy, it has become apparent that he’s suffering from an illness after being spotted in poor shape during Ash Wednesday Mass.

On the following day, the Pope canceled a mass across Rome, and on Friday, he didn’t attend a Vatican conference in which the participants were discussing the matter of artificial intelligence.

On Saturday, Pope Francis continued his recovery after canceling two official appearances including formal affairs intended to be addressed in the Apostolic Palace.

While the Pope canceled several official engagements, he allegedly continues to accept the audience in private at Vatican’s Santa Marta hotel where he’s staying and working from home.

Previously, on Thursday, the 83-year-old had a ‘slight indisposition’ and couldn’t attend the planned mass at the St. John Lateran basilica.

A spokesperson said the pontiff would like to continue but chose to stay within the Vatican instead of going around the city.

While there was no word about the true nature of his condition, Pope Francis was seen blowing his nose and coughing during the Ash Wednesday Mass.

This comes one day after he touched faces and kissed heads as he met with people in St. Peter’s Square. Only a few people were wearing face masks but Francis still shook hands and kissed some of the children.
