The politician who has gone viral for suggesting that bathing in mud can protect people from coronavirus tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria is a member of the Parliament of India who was recorded blowing a conch shell while sitting shirtless in the mud.
As the Rajasthan-based politician claimed, bathing in mud, getting wet in the rain, and eating local stuff offers immunity against the novel coronavirus.
“Go out, get wet in the rain, sit in the dirt, work on the farm, blow a conch,” the MP said in the video which was shared on Facebook.
He also went on to advise people to eat local things as he chewed on leaves of nearby plants. “One gains immunity from doing these things,” Jaunapuria said in Hindi.
Following one month after the bizarre advice, the MP tested positive for coronavirus along with 23 other members of the parliament.
The news follows as India has reported a total of more than five million COVID-19 cases. According to the reports, it only took the country of over one billion people 11 days to record one million new cases.
Previously, Alexsander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus, insisted that drinking booze and indulging in saunas can help protect people from the virus. Eventually, however, he too tested positive for the disease.
Another leader to come up with a bizarre ‘remedy’ for the disease was Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador who was seen wearing an amulet to ‘protect’ himself from the virus.
