A 28-year-old Nelson Nelson was furious and went on a rampage at the Nottingham Station.
The British Transport Police questioned him about his travel being important or not amidst the travel restrictions due to Covid-19.
The man was jailed for 4-years after he verbally abused the Transport Police Officers when he was approached by them. He told them that he would “beat them up” if he was asked about whether his travel was necessary or not.
The 28-year-old individual was taken away from the property, but he punched two of the officers in the face and knocked them down.
Out of the two officers, one was unconscious and the other had the strength to chase after the thug. The individual named Nelson dragged the female officer towards an oncoming bus and then left her and went inside a building opposite to the Nottingham Station.
More police officers were called in, but that man hit two more officers before he armed himself with some nails and a wooden plank. He also attacked the police dog, Quantum, along with his handler.
The Nottinghamshire Police arrested Nelson and also discovered that he had a lock-knife. The police said there is “no excuse” for such behavior.
But they were shocked to learn that this violent act took place because he was simply asked about his travel being necessary or not.
The two officers were taken to the hospital for treatment and one of them suffered a concussion and bruises on her face. The other officer suffered tissue damage on his thumb and jaw, along with swelling and bruising on his entire body.
Nelson was taken to the Nottingham Magistrate Court and was found guilty of assault. He was also charged for carrying a dangerous weapon and causing harm towards an animal.
Nelson is originally from Birmingham, and he visited Nottingham to see a friend who had been ill. His lawyer said that he had never been to Nottingham before and said that he got lost and didn’t know where to go.
Gareth Davies, the chief inspector, said that this particular incident was disturbing and horrifying as the officers were just doing their job, which was assigned to them.
