Video of the incident was posted by a TV station, forcing bosses to place the police officer on gardening leave as they continue to make further investigations.

In the video, the cop approached the woman to get her details and book her for breaching covid rules. However, it seemed that he changed his mind as he ended up crashing his lips against hers.

After the video was shared by the station, Mayor Luis Molina sent the cop home as officers investigate the incident.

Ibero Rodriguez, the person in charge of citizen security for the Miraflores district, said: “Our mayor Luis Molina has taken the decision to suspend this officer immediately.”

Rodriguez added: “There are several infringements. The young woman disrespects social distancing rules and he allows it.

“Then he takes off his mask to give her a kiss.”

The cop hasn’t been in trouble before, Rodriguez said, adding: “This action by itself is a very serious one and that’s why he’s been suspended.”

The police officers were photographed by a customer inside The Chef House Kitchen in Greenwich on January 9.
