Police officers arrived in a loud neighborhood to disband a street party only to let it rage on after discovering that all of the ‘attendees’ were obeying social distancing orders.
The unusual party occurred in Hull, England, where the police presumably arrived with the intention to disband it and send the attendees home.
However, after realizing that all of the people were partying from the safety of their own homes, without breaking self-isolation, the cops let the music rage on.
The Easter party was organized by Chris Marshall, a DJ and a teacher, who prepared his equipment in the yard before playing some good music for his neighbors.
Soon enough, according to the reports, fellow residents have taken to their yards, balconies, and windows to share drinks and sing along without breaking social distancing regulations.
“At 6pm I got all the kit out within the boundaries of my front yard, played some music out and did a little soundcheck, then turned round and seemingly every other house was out,” Mr. Marshall said in an interview with The Hull Daily Mail.
“People were bringing patio sets round to their front lawns and people were stood in their yards, some people opened up windows and were sat inside watching. There were other families with like five children all out enjoying their own space.
“It just went absolutely mental. Everyone stuck to the social distancing and there was no partying in the street but the atmosphere was something I’ve never seen before.”
While the residents thought their party was over when the police arrived at the scene, they were pleasantly surprised as the officers let the music play on because everyone was respecting social distancing orders.
“They were absolutely lovely and they got back in their car and got a big cheer as they drove off,” Marshall added.
