Police officers dressed in Santa and elf costumes were caught on camera raiding the home of a suspected drug dealer.
The bizarre operation took place in Lima, Peru, where narcotics officers who are clearly into the festive spirit decided to surprise a suspected drug dealer by storming his home dressed in Christmas costumes.
In the footage taken, two officers dressed as Santa and an elf are seen barging into a house before wrestling and apprehending the suspect.
“We are the police, we are the green squad, this is an anti-drug operation,” one of the officers reportedly shouted as the pair burst through the front door.
According to the reports, the suspect, who was pinned to the ground and handcuffed, pleaded with the police to leave his son alone.
During the raid, the police uncovered hundreds of small packs filled with marijuana and some cocaine. They also confiscated a gun.
“With the results we are seeing, a significant amount of drugs has been confiscated, both marijuana and basic cocaine paste in [small packs], a firearm has also been seized,” Colonel Fredy Velasquez confirmed.
The raid on the suspect’s home followed after the man was filmed selling illegal substances to people outside his home according to the authorities.
As for the bizarre outfits, Peruvian police have allegedly confirmed that the ‘shock’ tactic helps them turn the situation to their advantage thanks to the element of surprise.
The tactic is reportedly used by agents in the country to catch gangs and drug dealers off guard.
