Police officers were caught on camera throwing a protester out of his wheelchair before hurling the device away and arresting the man.
The clash between Black Lives Matter protesters and the police occurred in Downtown Los Angeles where the authorities were arresting three people in connection to an unrelated matter according to the reports.
During that time, the police allegedly encountered a group of some fifty BLM protesters who clashed with the officers and demanded they let the arrested people go free.
One member of the group was also wheelchair-bound Joshua Wilson whom the police grabbed and hurled out of his wheelchair after he punched one of the officers in the face according to the LAPD.
As Mr. Wilson hit the ground, officers restrained him by twisting his arms behind his back. One of the cops was also caught on camera throwing the protester’s wheelchair out of the way.
According to the authorities, the officers discovered a loaded gun in Wilson’s backpack and he was later booked into jail for being an ex-con in possession of a firearm.
While the police didn’t reveal whether Wilson sustained any injuries during the clash, it was said that the protester was examined by a medical professional before being booked into jail.
The authorities have also reported that a sergeant, along with three officers, sustained minor injuries at the time of the brawl with the protesters.
Following the incident, Active Advocate shared the footage of the clash on social media saying: “They beat us. They used excessive force.”
The activists had also begun raising money to financially support Wilson who was held on a $35,000 bail.
