A wheelchair was parked at the side of the road; the police department received a call. What would be a wheelchair doing on the road? Isn’t it the first question that crosses your mind?
Well, the same question must have crossed their minds too this is why Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Deputies Montanez and Chapman decided to go look at what is that wheelchair doing in the middle of the road.
When they approached the wheelchair what they found was something they were not expecting. The wheelchair was not empty but an elderly woman was sitting on the chair.
The wheelchair was a motor-operated one that gives the person using it the freedom to go around on their own.
This is how the elderly lady ended up in the middle of the road. She was traveling on the road when the battery of her chair went out and she got stuck in the middle of the road.
But she did not lose her calm and waited for an hour for someone to come and rescue her out of the situation.
She was sitting there under the hot deserted sun, thirsty, alone, and tired, only waiting for a miracle. She started to think she might have to keep waiting for her for eternity and right the deputies showed up. She was more than happy to see them.
Chapman and Montanez saw the situation and offered her a ride but the woman was not ready to leave the only mobility device in her life behind. Apparently, the size and the weight of the chair were too much for the patrol car to handle.
So to keep her wish intact, the deputy decided to give her push. The woman lived about 1 mile away. The deputy pushed her till her home while sweat kept rolling down his face.
