Three police officers of the Wilmington Police Department in North Carolina have been fired after getting recorded using racial slurs and making “extremely racist” comments.
According to the reports, the three cops in question, including Cpl. Jesse Moore, James ‘Brian’ Gilmore, and Michael ‘Kevin’ Piner, were recorded by in-car cameras having a racist discussion in which they suggested another civil war was required to get rid of people of color from the country.
During their conversation, Piner allegedly said he was about “to go out and start slaughtering them f****** n******.” He also called for another civil war to “wipe them off the f****** map.”
Meanwhile, Gilmore complained about white people “worshipping blacks” and insisted he saw a video of a “white girl and this little punk pretty boy bowing down and kissing their toes.”
Moore didn’t spare any of his racist thoughts either, whereas he referred to a black woman as a “f****** negro” and said that “she needed a bullet in the head right then and move on.”
Later on, Moore also complained about an African American judge whom he referred to as a “negro magistrate.”
According to the reports, all three officers in question had been on the job for over two decades, whereas Moore and Gilmore were hired in 1997 and Piner back in 1998.
After the recording came to the light, the WPD fired the three cops and accused them of violating standards of conduct.
“When I first learned of these conversations, I was shocked, saddened and disgusted,” Police Chief Donny Williams expressed during a conference. “There is no place for this behavior in our agency or our city and it will not be tolerated.”
On Facebook, the police department also released a statement in which they expressed their “hurting” and begged the people not to judge other officers based on the comments of some.
The department also pledged to move forward by providing additional training for officers and launching a “cultural education series.” In addition, they vowed to include citizens in police hiring boards and increase community engagement opportunities.
