Back in 2014, Officer Charlie Kondek was shot and killed in a tragic incident in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Officer Kondek had left behind a heartbroken wife and teenage daughter.

The entire community was overwhelmed with grief at his loss.

Two years after the incident, Kondek’s daughter, Aleena, was set to attend her first prom night at River Ridge High School. While all of her friends were being sent off by their parents, Aleena was feeling the pain of the void left by her late father. But little did she know, her mother had a plan.

Teresa Kondek had arranged the best escort she could think of for daughter: her late husband’s fellow officers.

When Aleena arrived at the dance, the officers were there to walk her inside. Aleena was deeply touched by the surprise and thankful for the comfort of an incredible community.

“They always say, ‘never forgotten,’ and I totally believe that,” she said.
