Police officers in Texas have come up with a creative way to teach bad drivers a very important lesson –to stay within the lines when parking.
Rather than issuing fines on the spot, the Southlake DPS decided to hand out coloring pages to unruly drivers and urge them to color their police patch to learn how to stay in the lines.
“We noticed you had a little trouble staying in the lines when you parked next to a handicapped space…” the warning read.
“Maybe if you practice coloring our patch and staying in the lines here, it could help you avoid citations in the future?”
The photos of the flyer were shared on Twitter where the police department suggested they “try to avoid snark and sass” but people sometimes make it too hard.
“Please stay in the lines when you park ESPECIALLY if it’s next to a handicapped spot or you might be the recipient of one of our new fliers,” Southlake DPS wrote in their post.
“Be kind and drive kind and park kind!”
After the photos went viral, many internet users found the idea very amusing and educating whereas some suggested the fliers might even have a better effect than fines.
“This is phenomenal! I’d color it in and send it to the Chief thanking him that I didn’t get a citation and promising to do better in the future,” one man commented on the post.
“Park like a toddler, get treated like a toddler,” another one suggested.
