A police chief has resigned effective immediately after threatening to shoot protesters and burn the homes of political enemies.
Lang Holland, the police chief of Marshall, Arkansas, has quit his job after his concerning comments came to light.
According to the reports, the Marshall’s Chief of Police threatened “all Marxist Democrats” with death while suggesting Black Lives Matter protesters should be shot.
Among other indecent acts, Holland allegedly shared social media posts enticing violence against political enemies and posts referring to trans people as “perverted freaks” and “mentally defective” people.
In one of his Parler posts, the police chief wrote: “Death to all Marxist Democrats. Take no prisoners leave no survivors!”
In another post, he added: “Do not forget what these Marxist Democrat ba****ds have tried to do. When you see one in public get in their face do not give them any peace.
“Throw water on them at restaurants. Push them off sidewalks. Never let them forget they are traitors and have no right to live in this Republic after what they have done.”
On Friday, after his comments have come to light, Holland insisted that @Langholland, the account behind the disturbing posts, was fake, whereas he claimed his real account was @Chieflangholland.
As Marshall Mayor Kevin Elliott confirmed, however, the account responsible for making threatening comments belongs to the police chief.
On Saturday, following a backlash, both of the accounts associated with Holland’s name, as well as the Facebook page of the police department, were disabled.
Since then, the mayor has confirmed that the police chief has stepped down from his position effective immediately.
“The Marshall community does not in any way support or condone bullying or threats of violence to anyone of any political persuasion,” Mayor Kevin Elliott said.
“We are a welcoming community that is humbly working to build a bright future for ALL our citizens.”
