Thirty pedophiles have been arrested in a Virginia county this month as part of the COVID crackdown operation.
The Operation COVID crackdown, which was designed to protect children using the internet to take online classes, has seen 68 felony charges put on 30 predators.
Fairfax County Police officers found the pedos starting ‘explicit conversations’ with decoy kids online before initiating ‘sex’ with them.
The pedophiles, aged between 20 and 74, were arrested at the places they had agreed to meet the decoy children, who were actually cops pretending to be kids.
Bureau Commander of Major Crimes Major Ed O’Carroll said in a statement: “Our detectives have remained vigilant and they recognized the increased threat posed by online predators in recent weeks.
“I commend their ability to adapt during this unprecedented public health pandemic and to do so in the interest of protecting our children and bringing justice to those who commit these repugnant crimes.”
The pedos were arrested either from Virginia county or had traveled from West Virginia, Maryland or Washington D.C.
Over 50 million children in the US are at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic that forced schools, bars, restaurants, and other non-essential businesses to shut down.
States are still developing plans to reopen gradually but it is not clear how many weeks or months it will take. This means students will likely be at home for the rest of the school year.
Many children are taking classes online and this could men they are more exposed to dangers posed by pedos who exploit the children using the internet.
One internet user commented: “This has been a big worry of mine from the beginning of lockdown – that both domestic violence and child exploitation would rise because people are stuck at home. Kudos to law enforcement for this major arrest, hope its just the first of many.”
Another wrote: “Lock them up and throw away the key.”
A third added: “Bravo to the detectives and police who set up this sting and saw it through to the end with fantastic results! Now, prosecutors, bring it home.”
