Plus-Size Model Ashley Graham Boldly Posted A Call-For-Change Message For Victoria Secret

It’s sometimes disheartening how society unjustly makes benchmarks for acceptable norms, even if those norms only favor the fortunate few.

Ashley Graham is on the mission to change one of those unfair standards.

The world of fashion is dominated by the sexy and beautiful. And by sexy, it means slender bodies and tight butts. They have perfect bodies that large women and typical household moms could only dream of. What’s frustrating is they’re the ones advertising the clothes everybody wants to wear.

Ashley Graham is a model and a rather healthy one. They’re called plus-size models. Slowly they’re making a name for themselves in the fashion industry.

Graham’s unique approach and outspoken perspective of the fashion world has drawn a lot of criticisms from fashion experts. Recently, she turns her attention to Victoria’s Secret. She’s pointing out the lack of inclusiveness in their annual fashion show. “Inclusiveness” meaning the outfit they’re promoting using skinny models attracts only skinny consumers excluding a highly-potential market of not-so-skinnies.

Last November 28, 2017, Victoria Secret hosted a star-studded fashion event in Shanghai. One of the highlights was a runway show of top models in lingerie with wings strapped on their backs. It was all sorts of wings, fairies, angels, devils you name it.  Frankly, with those bodies and pretty faces, they looked as enchanting and magical as they ought to be. They were simply jaw-dropping truly beautiful creatures, on the outside at least.

The winged-theme show represents a symbolic notion that Victoria Secret’s aspiring fashion models “get their wings” once they walked the runway in their annual fashion show. After that could then be officially considered one of the Victoria Secret angels. About this, Ashley posted a picture on Instagram wearing her own winged outfit on a catwalk, saying “Got my wings.”

Though the wings were photoshopped, Ashley Graham undoubtedly looks equally gorgeous as her slender counterparts. Her message is obvious, she didn’t like the Victoria Secret affirmation nor to be in their lingerie fashion show to feel pretty and confident. Their sizes wouldn’t fit her anyway.

Due to the increasing demand for women wanting top brands like Victoria Secret to increasing the sizes of their products, Dana Drew, a Chicago lawyer, and placed a petition. She says there are over 100 million plus-size women in America alone who can’t shop at the store.

In line to this, Ashley is determined to show Victoria Secret and likes, how much they are losing. Because of Ashley’s efforts, more and more plus-sized women have boosted their self-esteem making them feel better and more confident about their figures. When it comes to burgers and fries, this also gave our typical sexy models a sense of hope. Apparently, they don’t have to deprive themselves too much fast food to keep their jobs.
