34-year-old Tess Holliday just made a statement in a white dress as she walked the runway during New York Fashion Week.
The plus-size model walked the catwalk for Chromat’s Spring/Summer 2020 show in the striking dress, which was covered with the phrase ‘sample size.’
The white cut-out gown, which has a daring design across the chest, seemed to be a response to controversies about ‘child size’ sample size dresses.
Tess, a mother-of-two, had her incredible ink on show as she wore the gown for Becca McCharen-Tran’s label.
She matched the dress with white, leather open-toe heels and also wore her tresses in a high ponytail. Then, she finished her appearance with a red lip and daring blue eyeliner and accessorized the statement with royal blue and silver earrings.
Chromat is popular for ‘its groundbreaking runway shows that set the standard for body positivity with their all-sizes, ages, races, and abilities casting.’
This season’s show also featured models of all sizes and shapes taking to the catwalk to reveal McCharen-Tran’s new collection.
Tess was also very confident when it comes to showing her body. She always shares photos on Instagram with messages of body positivity.
She recently responded to critics who said plus-size models cannot be in shape. “I drive over 2 hours to train with @massy.arias 3x a week. That’s commitment. So don’t tell me what folks in bigger bodies aren’t capable of, because we will prove you wrong ever time,” she said.
One internet user wrote: “She does have a pretty face, under all that makeup.”
Another said: “Come on. Im all for a curvy or plus sized model, but this woman is morbidly obese. She will be dead before she’s 50, and we’re all just supposed to be fine with her telling everyone to just have “body positivity”? This is why the US health system is so expensive. People eating themselves to illness and disease and having the taxpayer pay for it.”
A third said: “Body confidence is one thing, but promoting unhealthiness and obesity is wrong.”
