A plumber has gone viral after revealing that he is indebted and on the verge of losing his business because he refuses to accept payments from elderly people in need of compassion and help.
52-year-old James Anderson from Burnley, UK, is a generous plumber who started offering free-of-charge service to the elderly and disabled across the country.
Not only did James risk his only source of income to help those in need but he also closed down his business and relaunched as a non-profit company instead.
Now, the Good Samaritan resorts to crowdfunding to raise donations so that he can continue helping those who can’t afford expensive rates.
James’ acts of kindness went viral after he posted a picture of the $0 bill he gave to an elderly woman who is suffering from a terminal disease. After the people learned of the man’s selfless efforts, they have donated nearly $100,000 in just a week.
“People are talking about doing it in America, France and Australia, and they’re all going to contact me to get advice and guidance as to how to do it in their countries,” James revealed.
“Hopefully… we can bring all communities together for one common cause across the planet, so everybody who’s elderly and disabled, not just in the UK, can benefit from something like this in society.”
As the 52-year-old man added, things were tough when he was the one in charge of taking care of everything without any external help.
“I had to lay two of the lads off because I couldn’t afford it, then I had to go out and do the jobs myself as well as the paperwork, advertising, quotes and everything else,” he admitted.
“Now I can look at bringing them back. We don’t just have to do Lancashire now. I’m going to be ringing local engineers in the wider area.
“We’ve had companies say they’ll do all the advertising for us including a website, all free of charge. This is just the beginning of something that can be global.”
