A Heart-Stopping Moment Of A Plane Landing Just Few Feet Away From Tourists

An oddly interesting and frightening video showing planes landing at a distance of just feet from the tourists is doing the rounds on the internet.

Skiathos Airport is situated near a beach in Greece, so the runways are just yards away from the sea.

The tourists on the beach get so excited to watch a plane land so close that instead of moving to a safe location away from the plane’s path, they move right under it to get that adrenaline rush.

Some people go so far as to climb on walls to get an even closer glimpse of the planes – and that’s some seriously dangerous thing to do.

A video containing a compilation of these unusual landings was recently shared on YouTube with the caption: “Skiathos 2019 – lowest landing ever?”

In one of the clips of these landings, a British Airways flight can be seen coming in extremely low, causing some tourists standing on the walls to fall off due to the turbulence caused by the plane.

YouTuber Cargospotter, who uploaded the clip containing these scenes, wrote: “Skiathos Airport or as many of us aviation enthusiasts call it ‘the European St Maarten’ is one of the craziest airports in Europe Airplanes land and depart right behind a small road and the airport of Skiathos became one of the main tourist attractions of the Greek island.point 592 | 1

“Low landings and jet blasts can be observed on a daily basis and last week we filmed an incredibly low British Airways Embraer E190 landing. The people who were watching the planes were pushed from the wall by the wake turbulence of the Embraer.”

If the weather is favorable, as many as 100 people can be seen gathering on the beach to enjoy the unusual landings.

The beach area is a favorite with many plane-spotters, all thanks to the runway being situated beside a public road for easy access.

Owing to the runway size, a Boeing 757 is the largest plane that can land at Skiathos Airport.

Another breathtaking video of a plane crash landing on a motorway during peak hours was shared on the social media.

Roberto Alexander Castillo was on the way home with his boss in British Columbia, Canada when he saw the heart-stopping event unfold, live in front of his eyes.

He said: “My co-worker, who is also my boss, was driving and I saw the plane coming down on the highway. I told him, ‘Hey hey, look at that plane, man!’

“I was like, ‘Right in front of us, that plane is gonna crash!’ So, he pulled over and we were like, ‘what are we gonna do?’ Because we saw a big truck coming up behind the plane and we thought they were going to collide.

“But they landed well, really well. At that moment I thought maybe they were filming a movie or something.”

It was later revealed on local media that the plane had to perform a crash landing on the motorway due to fuel leakage, owing to a fuel cap that fell off mid-air.

The emergency landing went exceptionally good, with no crash or collision.
