“Fast Times”, first released in 1982, is considered one of the best high-teen movies of all time. With an iconic script by Cameron Crowe and finished under the skillful hands of director Amy Heckerling, the authenticity and barrier breaking nature of the film was widely praised.

As the beloved film celebrates its 38th year anniversary, a live and unrehearsed script reading has been scheduled to commemorate the classic film. Like any other major event, the reading is to be hosted virtually.

The sheer star power of the celebrities that have been invited to the reading is jaw-dropping. Along side Pitt and Aniston will be the likes of Morgan Freeman, Julia Roberts, Matthew McConaughey and Shia LeBeouf. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel has also been added to the cast.

Perhaps the most nostalgic cast is Sean Penn, who starred in the original film as Spicoli. Penn brought alive Spicoli, a stoner surfer kid, with the great finesse he has always shown onscreen. Many believe that this role elevated Penn to super-stardom in Tinseltown.

However, it has been reported that Penn will not be rehashing one of his most iconic performances. Presenter Dane Cook has mentioned that viewers will have to watch the stream online if they want to know the casting, as it will be kept a secret until the reading begins.

Adding to the reunion like mood of the event, the director and writer for the original 1982 flick will also be present. It is said that Heckerling and Crowe will give a brief introduction prior to the actual reading.

All the proceedings from the event will be donated to CORE and REFORM. CORE was established by Penn and Ann Lee, which aims to provide more access to Covid-19 testing around the US. The latter organization has been working for criminal justice reform.

Everyone involved seemed to be excited at both the reading itself and the great cause they are working for. Penn said he is happy and proud for all the stars that gathered for CORE, and added that he is fully satisfied with the new casting of Spicolo.
