A little pink elephant, who is suffering from rare leucism condition, was spotted in South Africa surrounded by its family.
The three-week-old elephant playing in the grass in MalaMala Game Reserve in Kruger National Park was captured by Safari ranger Tim Jansen van Vuuren.
He said that the little pink elephant is suffering from rare leucism condition which causes a partial loss of pigmentation.
‘It is a genetic disorder that will affect them for life. This is by far one of the most interesting things I have seen in the wild.’
‘Things like this are not very well documented so it’s very interesting to witness as you won’t find things like this in books.’
The amazing video was posted online which instantly went viral.
One wrote: ‘Pink means very rare elephant’ while another said: ‘Very Rare and awesome!’
‘Oh it’s just as beautiful as any other elephant…. BUT I really hope they can keep it protected from poachers’ another added.
One user wrote: ‘So beautiful, praying she is kept safe, as well with all our beautiful elephants and our other animals’
This is really amazing to see a pink elephant as the sight is very rare. Thanks to Safari ranger Tim Jansen van Vuuren who captured this little elephant.
