There are so many striking bird species that never fail to amaze us.

They tout so many different colors, sizes, and a wide range of other characteristics.

Some of them show intricate plumage, making them resemble fruit or berry. And one such species is the gorgeous strawberry finches. These are basically small birds similar to the size of a sparrow.

These birds are also commonly referred to as red Munia or red avadavat. These are popularly seen in tropical Asia.

Coming to the height, strawberry finches are around 10.16 centimeters or 3-4 inches in length. The characteristics of male and female birds in this species also differ.

The males have a deep red crown positioned on the back, and there are white streaks under their eyes. Their breast and head are displayed by scarlet.

Lastly, their over-feathers, tails, and wings have white spots. Male appears more distinct during the breeding season, and once that is over, they show much more resemblance to the females. Females, on the other hand, have a dark brown tail, back and crown displaying lesser white spots.

Males have bright red plumage in order to attract females. Additionally, the males of this species have their unique mating dance. This starts with picking a feather or grass stem and bowing upright with their feathers.

Generally, these birds live together in large flocks, sometimes even 100, but once they have paired and built nests, they tend to separate from the rest.
