Not all heroes wear capes, and in some cases, just one Good Samaritan can touch people’s lives.
One doctor in New Zealand recently showed this point when a picture of him running an entire emergency room while carrying a sleeping baby had gone viral.
Mike Haden-Jones, a clinical nurse specialist at Waikato Hospital, shared the heartwarming photo on Facebook.
In his post, he wrote that a crying baby came into the hospital with his mother. However, the mother was undergoing medical tests and couldn’t put the child to sleep.
Doctors in the emergency room tried to calm the baby but only Dr. Muir Wallace, the emergency department consultant, managed to soothe the infant.
Even though Muir was supposed to run the ER that night, he still cuddled the sleepy baby.
“So for about an hour the other day our consultant in charge (of the entire ED) was most definitely multi-tasking,” Haden-Jones wrote on Facebook. “Just an example of the small kindnesses that happen everyday that often go unnoticed.”
One Facebook user commented: “his Dr is amazing. He looked after my son last night in kids place as he had a burnt face and needed anisthetic to make sure his eye was ok. Such a funny Dr and keep me as ease with step by step of what was happening. Thank you Dr for all the kind work you and your team do. You really all are so over worked and under appreciated. So from me and my son we thankyou.”
Another wrote: “You can tell he’s an awesome man from that one act! Thank you Muir for caring for 2 people that day above and beyond what you would have to do.”
