Kanye West made a surprising announcement on Twitter, saying he is running for US president this year.
People are now calling for Taylor Swift to run against the rapper.
“If Kanye is running for president can Taylor Swift please also run for president? @taylorswift13 WE NEED YOU RIGHT NOW,” one fan wrote.
“How about Taylor Swift as the president and Selena Gomez as vice president? #kanye2020,” another tweeted.
Another said: “If Kanye gets elected as president, I want Taylor Swift to gate crash his first speech and say something like, “Yo Kanye, I’m happy for you, imma let you finish but I think Beyoncé deserves to be president instead.”
The suggestion was a reference to the moment in WMAs in 2009 when the rapper interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech to announce that ‘Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.’
Sadly for Swift fans, presidential candidates must be at least 35 years old and the Shake It Off hitmaker won’t reach that age for another 5 years.
West made the announcement on Saturday, claiming he will be running for president four months before the election day.
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” West wrote on Twitter, adding the hashtag #2020VISION and an American flag emoji.
His wife, Kim Kardashian, showed her full support by retweeting his post with an American flag.
The rapper’s billionaire friend also wrote: “You have my full support!”
Kanye has previously spoken about wanting to become president. In 2015, he said at the MTV Music Video Awards that he would be running for POTUS in 2020.
