For Elle Magazine’s 25th Women in Hollywood event, the singer showed up in an oversized, Marc Jacobs suit with her tresses in a simple low bun.

Gaga explained that after trying on ten or more dresses, the oversized suit caught her eye. It was buried in the corner and it brought her to tears. During her speech, she explained that she was 19 years old when she was sexually assaulted by someone in the entertainment industry.
Wearing the suit allows her to take her power back. She said: “In this suit, I felt the truth of who I am well up in my gut.”
She said: “So, after trying 10 or so dresses, with a sad feeling in my heart, that all that would matter was what I wore to this red carpet, I saw an oversized Marc Jacobs suit buried quietly in the corner. I put on to a resounding view of eyes glaring at me in confusion.”
There is no doubt that the internet can be a cruel place. Those who weren’t able to hear her speech missed the powerful statement of her attire. Twitter was flooded with memes but Gaga couldn’t care less what others think.
The singer will continue to make bold fashion statements for the causes she truly believes in. She said: “Be a helping hand. Be a force for change.”
