People in Sweden have been getting chips implanted in their hands.

Surgically implanted between the index finger and thumb, the chip eliminates the need for keys, plastic cards, and other things that a person normally has to carry for day-to-day use.

In 2018, just 100 people had the chips implant but now they’re being used by around 4,000 people, with more and more people getting interested in it.

The micro chip can be used to pay at different outlets by just touching the terminal with the hand. And it’s cheap as well. You can get it implanted in your hand for just $180.

To avoid the possibility of tracking, the chip has no GPS in it.

The tiny device works only within some inches of the terminal, making the possibility of unauthorized use or data theft very difficult.

It is a passive chip which can only be read by the terminal and cannot edit data on the terminal.

According to scientists, this device will start a whole new era of digital possibilities for the Swedish people, besides providing convenience to them.

However, there has been a lot of criticism about the chip in certain circles.

People have two main reservations on this latest tech marvel. The first is, no one can guarantee the safety and privacy of the personal information stored in these chips.

Second, these chips have or will soon have GPS trackers in them, making it possible for big companies to track their employees at all times.

Some people think that it is the reason a number of companies have been offering this service to their employees for free.

Apart from the conspiracy theories, the chip can be a really useful invention.

It makes paying and unlocking doors extremely easy as compared to the use of mobile phone apps, keys, and plastic cards. Moreover, unlike those things, this tiny device cannot get lost.
