This Is Why You Shouldn’t Be At Work For The Whole Week If You Are Above 40 Years Old

Who doesn’t need a reason to skip work for 4 days in a week? Probably everyone does! Science is taking care of it so don’t worry, but only to those who are at least 40 in their age.

Yes! You’ve heard it right; a report was generated as a result of a study performed on the volunteers around 3000 males and 3500 females. This report was published in Melbourne Institute Worker Paper and it states that the individuals having 40 years of age or older than 40 can perform three days a week or less. And on increasing their working hours result in lesser brain activity and performance.

During the study, volunteers were asked to attempt the cognitive test, analytical reasoning, and other memory tests to analyze their cognitive behaviors. These tests were conducted under time pressure to examine the mental performance and the amount of stress they could bear.

As a result, researchers found that their performance was admirable till 25 hours but after as they kept increasing the working hours up till 55, the performance got worse. Unexpectedly, the volunteers’ performance above 55 hours was even poorer than those who were pensioned off or not having any jobs.

Colin McKenzie, Keio University professor and the co-author of this study told that the brain performance depends directly on the working hours and increasing these working hours causes stress and lesser cognitive performance of the brain in the elderly.

This is the reason, according to Colin, countries should lessen the retirement ages in which the employees start receiving the pension benefits so that the elderly can start part-time jobs with less working hours resulting in high cognitive capabilities.
