Just weeks ago, a theme park ride snapped in two mid-air and sent riders crashing to the ground.
A 19-year-old girl was killed and many were injured in the horrific incident in Uzbekistan.
Another pendulum ride broke in half mid-air, killing two people and injuring dozens. Photos and video footage show the metal arm of the ride break as it goes up in the air in Ahmedabad, India.
A part of the ride crashed with its main structure and 31 riders were sent plunging to the ground. According to authorities, 27 are being treated in hospital and at least two people have passed away.
Photos shared online show bloodied bodies strewn across the ground while others were still trapped in their seats.
Riders could be heard screaming for help as other park-goers tried to free people who were stranded.
Ahmedabad’s municipal commissioner Vijay Nehra said an inquiry has been ordered to determine what caused the terrifying incident.
“Police, along with a forensic team, reached the spot to find out the reasons behind the accident,” he said.
Mayor Bijal Patel also added: “Twenty-nine people were brought to the hospital out of whom two died while 27 are being treated.”
The ride’s maintenance is now being probed. An investigation has been launched to know whether the theme park had a proper license to operate it.
One internet user commented: “I remember when I was a kid and when you went to theme park you believed however scary the ride seemed, NOTHING would happen because it was safe. I don’t think I would get on a coaster now if I was a kid after watching this and other incidents, especially the one at Alton Towers!”
Another said: “As much as health and safety can be a pain in the back side, that video is a perfect example of what happens in a country where it is virtually non existent.”
A third wrote: “This the second time in a month that this exact ride has broken, time to think seriously about scrapping this ride altogether.”
