A Democratic Representative has warned that a group of 4,000 armed ‘patriots’ intends to surround Congress in an attempt to save President Trump from getting impeached for the second time.
As Pennsylvania Representative Conor Lamb claimed, top officials were informed by law enforcement that a large and well-organized group of far-right ‘patriots’ intends to prevent Democrats from casting their votes by blocking their entry to the Capitol.
According to Lamb, the group of 4,000 armed patriots has issued special “rules of engagement” and trained its members on when to resort to shooting.
“The threats we are facing are very specific. I don’t want anyone watching at home to think like we’re just sort of imagining that things could be bad,” Lamb said during his Tuesday appearance on CNN.
“They’re talking about 4,000 armed patriots to surround the Capitol and prevent any Democrat from going in. And they have published rules of engagement – meaning when you shoot and when you don’t.”
The Marine veteran’s warning follows shortly after the FBI alerted the public about violent riots being planned across the States as Joe Biden’s inauguration draws near.
“Armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols from January 16 through at least January 20, and at the US Capitol from January 17 through January 20,” an FBI bulletin warned.
In the wake of civil unrest across the country, robust security measures are being implemented to ensure a safe transition of power on 20th January.
Among other measures, a 7-foot anti-climbing fence has been raised around the Capitol grounds. Meanwhile, the National Guard head confirmed that at least 10,000 troops will be ready to maintain order in Washington, DC by Saturday.
