The novel coronavirus has turned out to be a deadly disease making millions of people sick and killing thousands every single day.
Several European countries are under incredible pressure as they do not have enough space to treat all the patients.
Many people have died due to the lack of Intensive Care Units, and several sick people are still at homes because hospitals are facing a shortage of beds.
Helping other countries in this terrible situation, Germany has decided to step up.
Following the crisis, the health minister of Germany has announced that they are treating about 200 citizens of neighboring European countries in the Intensive Care Units.
On Monday, Jens Spahn said that they have the capacity and are willing to take more patients in.
The minister said that Germany is going to cover the cost of the treatment as well. The nation is doing so to ensure the solidarity of the European nations at the time of crisis.
The minister said that most of the patients are from France, Italy, and the Netherlands.
Germany had to airlift these patients as they are from some of the hardest-hit regions of these European nations.
These patients are being treated in different regions of the country.
As per reports, the first batch of patients brought in to the Essen hospital has been sent back after they have recovered.
As per a report by a leading newspaper in the country, the estimated costs of the treatment will be 20 million Euros.
For these great efforts, Germany is being praised by several nations and leaders.
This came into the act because of the slow response by several European countries to the situation, leading them to a terrible outbreak.
Many people are still not able to get the help they need. And so many people are dying because of the same.
